At some moment, human kind will build its last machine:

The Machine that builds every other machine.

We are building that Last Machine

The most important thing I can think of working on right now is trying to figure out Super Intelligence.

Does Super Intelligence lies in the fabric of our Universe? Does it need a consiousness? What is consiousness? Can we create consious machines? Why not?

The next Manhattan Project

S.I (Super Intelligence) will be more impactful than the atomic bomb. Whichever country has S.I in their possession, will dominate everyone else.

The difference is there won't be a need for war. The Machine Surpremacy will be based on the unlimited amount of innovation, solutions and efficiency that S.I will unlock.

If you believe in religion, it is a race of who is going to have the technology to create a God. The budget that is allocated just for A.I at this moment is way bigger than when the US was researching the atomic bomb.

Companies like META are working on their Manhattan Project but I believe that they are going to the wrong direction for reasons that have to do more about politics and stock pricing dynamics.
